iParq
Find your parking on the go!
An improved version of the existing on-campus parking system. Introducing iParq mobile app which will help make the entire parking process easy and stress-free
UX Design | Prototyping | Visual Design
Project Goal
To allow the users to find the parking spots on-Campus easily and reduce their confusion about permit registration.
Problem Statement
Around 75% of kids parking on campus find it difficult to find parking spots as the parking spaces are limited. They take around 15-20 minutes to find a spot on campus still with no guarantee to find one often making them late for the classes. The students living on campus have to constantly move their cars before 7 in the morning and after 5 in the evening.
The online permit registration process is another frustration for almost all users including teachers and other staff. It is manually handled by the university staff making the process long and mistake-prone. The website used for registration is also very confusing and hence users avoid using it.

Research Methods
Used multiple primary & secondary research methods:
-
Interviews
-
Surveys
-
Committee meetings
-
Internet research
-
Evaluative research like the “buy a feature” game.
46
Users surveyed
7
Users interviewed
8
'Buy-A-Feature' participants

'Buy-a-feature' research technique was adapted to understand what were the user frustrations and were their needs

Final Features

Design
After the research, I realized that most of the users had an issue with finding parking on-campus. So I would be focusing mainly on improving the parking situation. So the features which will be the USP of this product will be:
Find A Spot - It will show them the available spots near their location at the time of their arrival.
Reserve A Spot - It gave them a chance to reserve a spot on a first-come-first-serve basis in case of urgency.
Rewards - To encourage people to park their cars away from their destination and avoid frustration by rewarding them in the form of coupons and discounts.
Wireframes

Usability testing
Multiple iterations were done in the wireframes after a series of usability testings were done with them.
-
A discount coupon was added as a reward instead of point rewards as users mentioned that an actual reward would encourage more to use this feature and park further away from their destination to win the rewards.
-
Reserve a spot was limited to a part of the parking area instead of the whole parking spots to make it easier for the management to manage.
-
The clickstream in the registration process was reduced and was made easier and quicker to fill to maintain the user retention

Moodboard
A combination of cool colors is used to avoid anxiety and give a calming and relaxing effect and encourage safety as the app can potentially be used while driving, giving it a fresh look.
Keywords - Calm Focus Safety Fresh
